Eyelid Surgery

Are you tired of people telling you that you look tired? Eyelid surgery is the most powerful procedure available to freshen your look, regain a youthful appearance and look well rested. As we age, the upper eyelid skin becomes heavy and may even start resting on the eyelashes. The lower eyelids can become puffy with crepey or wrinkled skin and deep grooves that cause dark circles under the eyes.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, removes the excessive fullness of the upper eyelids and smoothes and flattens the lower eyelids. The goal is to look more refreshed, not to change the shape of your eyes or distort your natural features. Eyelid surgery is quick with little downtime and upper eyelid lift surgery can even be performed in the office without the need for general anesthesia (going to sleep).

Dr. Terry Maffi is a board-certified plastic surgeon and one of the premier Phoenix plastic surgeons in eyelid surgery. Interested in learning more? Call Maffi Clinics 480.505.6430.

Upper eyelid surgery can be performed in the office without going to sleep.

Eyelid surgery is the most powerful procedure to improve your appearance.

Upper eyelids show aging before the lower eyelids.

The incision lines are hidden in natural eyelid creases, making them undetectable.

Eyelid surgery will eliminate puffiness and bags under the eyes and hooded skin on the upper eyelids.

Eyelid Surgery Questions

Eyelid surgery is the quickest and easiest surgery available with the least amount of downtime. Nothing can improve your looks more that eyelid surgery.

Even as early as our mid to late 30’s, the upper eyelids can become heavy and shortly thereafter, the lower eyelids will start to age. It is recommended to address these issues when they become noticeable and bothersome rather than at a specific age.

Absolutely. When careful attention is paid to men’s unique anatomy and structure, you will not have any alterations to the shape of your eyes or look fake, different or feminized.

Yes. Upper eyelid surgery can be performed in the office. Although going to sleep is extremely safe, avoiding the anesthesia “hangover” allows you to feel great right after surgery. In addition, because you are not paying for the operating room and anesthesia fees, the cost of the procedure is much less.

Eyelid surgery typically is not that painful to recover from. Most people are off their pain pills within a few days. You can expect to have bruising and swelling that begins to subside after a week. The incision lines may be red for up to 3 – 4 weeks, but are easily concealed with tinted sunscreen that we can provide.

Removing puffiness or bags under the eyes will reduce shadowing that accentuates dark circles under the eyes. In some cases fat grafting may be necessary to treat dark circles and this can be done at the same time as your eyelid surgery. For more information on fat grafting, click here.
