CIT: Collagen Induction Therapy

CIT: Collagen Induction Therapy

Maffi Clinics’ Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a powerful anti-aging treatment that specifically targets the production of collagen and elastin, which is the foundation for achieving firmer, smoother and younger looking skin. CIT restores volume, elasticity and tightness the skin by repeatedly puncturing the skin with a microneedling device that uses tiny, sterile needles. The repeated puncturing results in the stimulation of collagen and elastin production.

As men age, our skin becomes rough, loose and weathered-looking. CIT is ideal for treating all these issues and best of all, it requires little downtime. To learn more or to schedule a CIT consultation, call 480.505.6430. To watch a CIT treatment video, click here.

CIT: Collagen Induction Therapy

Powerful anti-aging treatment.

CIT can be taken skin to the next level with the added benefit of treating sun damage, fine wrinkles, uneven texture, brown spots, acne scarring and active acne outbreaks. With these treatments, highly concentrated medical grade serums are driven deep into the skin through the hundreds of microchannels created by the microneedling. This type of delivery is significantly more powerful than the topical application of skin care products. There are various treatments available that are designed to treat specific conditions of the skin:

  • Deep hydration of the skin uses hyaluronic acid
  • Sun damaged skin is repaired using antioxidants
  • Fading brown spots or dark spots with bleaching serums

CIT: Collagen Induction Therapy Questions

Why should I do CIT?

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is perfect for the guy who wants to take their skin care to the next level. While microdermabrasion and Hydrafacial are great for addressing common skin issues such as dehydration, sun damage and poor texture, nothing is as powerful as CIT at stimulating collagen to get your skin looking as youthful and smooth as possible – naturally.

Are the results instant?

Unlike most skin treatments, the results are not instantaneous. It takes several weeks for the new collagen & elastin to form. Your face will feel fresh and hydrated after the treatment, but the end result will take a little time as your skin recovers. It is certainly worth the wait, though!

What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

You may have heard of guys using PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to rebuild damaged tendons or cartilage. Platelets are tiny cells in our own blood that have the powerful capability of healing any injured tissue that it comes into contact with. As we age, our skin becomes weak and damaged from age and chronic sun exposure.

When PRP is driven down to the base of the skin through the tiny holes created by microneedling, it rebuilds and repairs skin from the inside-out. Since it is our own cells repairing our own tissue, PRP is truly unlike any serum, cream or lotion in terms of the results produced.

Multiple needles to my face? This has to hurt!

Surprisingly, microneedling used for CIT is not as painful as you would think. The needles are extremely tiny and numbing cream is applied. There is a slight burn and feeling of irritation experienced during the procedure; however, the sting is minimal and easily tolerated by most men.

How long does it take?

Regular CIT only takes about 30 minutes. If you choose to have various serums applied to the skin, this adds an additional 5 – 10 minutes. If you decide to go “all the way” and have PRP, plan on being at the clinic for about an hour. A nurse needs to draw your blood (exactly as would be done for a simple lab test) and purify the PRP. An aesthetician then performs the microneedling, followed by the application of the PRP.

How often do I have to do it?

Because CIT is a powerful tool for the skin it does not need to be performed as often as other skin treatments. With longer lasting results the treatment can be performed 2 – 3 times a year.
