Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that removes the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells, gently “buffing out” the skin, to reveal younger, healthier-looking skin. The procedure is quick and easy with no downtime.

Since guys are typically outside quite a bit, we build up a lot of sun-damaged, dead cells. This layer of dead cells clogs the pores and dulls the skin. Maffi Clinics’ Microdermabrasion removes all this to polish the skin, making it a great treatment for men. It also encourages the production of a new underlying layer of skin cells with higher levels of collagen and elastin, which further improves your skin’s appearance. Watch our Microdermabrasion treatment video by clicking here.

Microdermabrasion Questions

Can I have the procedure if I have a beard or facial hair?

Yes. Facial hair is not a problem when performing this treatment. Any areas with hair are simply skipped or worked around. Since the skin under a beard is not visible, this area  does not need to be addressed. Maffi Clinics’ Microdermabrasion is a great procedure to have after shaving off your beard, as it cleans up the skin that has been covered with hair for a period of time.

If I shave my head, can microdermabrasion be done on my scalp?

Yes, microdermabrasion can be performed on any part of the face, neck or scalp. The scalp on bald or shaved heads actually gets a lot of sun damage and results in a lot of dead skin build-up. Maffi Clinics’ Microdermabrasion is a great treatment to clean it up so your head looks as good as your face!

Does it just scrap off dead skin cells?

No. Certain advanced microdermabrasion treatments use a special wet abrasion vacuum technique to exfoliate the skin and remove impurities, while infusing vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants deep into the tissue. This hydrates the skin, increases firmness, restores the skin’s resilience and improves its texture and tone. It is the “Cadillac” version of microdermabrasion.

Does the treatment hurt?

While not at all painful, the treatment can cause a slight warming sensation as the system gently sloughs away old and damaged layers of skin. This sensation is brief and gone by the end of the treatment. The skin is not red or irritated – it looks hydrated and healthy.

How long does it take and is there downtime?

Most microdermabrasion sessions last 30 to 45 minutes. There is no downtime. The skin looks great after the treatment.

How often do I have to do it?

You will see improvements in your complexion after a single treatment, but lasting results are achieved through a series of sessions performed on a regular basis. Maffi Clinics’ Microdermabrasion is optimally performed every month, since our skin is continuously “turning over” and dead skin cells are pushed to the surface every 30 days. You can either have the treatments routinely, or just do it whenever you want a quick “pick-me-up” for your face.
